Kunsthal Charlottenborg identity

art; black&white; identity; stationery;
Visual identity and design programme for the art museum Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen.

Originally the building that houses the Kunsthal Charlottenborg was built as an expansion of the art academy mansion – Charlottenborg.
Today Kunsthal Charlottenborg, though located in the historical buildings of the Charlottenborg mansion, is run separately from the art academy. The museum profile is contemporary and Kunsthal Charlottenborg aims to position itself as a modern art space. For the visual identity Rasmus Koch Studio created a graphic concept that visualises and communicates this modern and contemporary sense. Central to our solution is the C form with its strength and simplicity as an open frame.

Stationary. The C frames the stationary.

Kunsthal Charlottenborg

Copenhagen's largest exhibition venue (1,400 m2 of exhibition space) and meeting-place for contemporary art. The exhibitions are internationally oriented, and are promoted widely among art enthusiasts of all ages.

The historic building, built in 1883, which is shared with Danmarks Kunstbibliotek (the Danish National Art Library) was originally called the Exhibition Building at Charlottenborg, to emphasise its affiliation with Charlottenborg itself, the baroque palace on Kongens Nytorv which now houses the pictorial art schools of the Royal Danish Academy of Art.

Kunsthal Charlottenborg is a state institution, and is part of the Ministry of Culture.
